In the summer of 2005, Helena Waldmann together with El-Funoun Palestinian Dance Troupe created a 20- minute dance film. Six dancers from El-Funoun told the German choreographer their storiesof the imposed Israeli military check-postsand violations of human rights; their narratives are about solitary confinement; people whose land is stolen and their dignity violated by the apartheid walland restrictionsimposed on thefreedom and movement. The protagonists areanambulance driver and his friend, anda mobile coffee seller who is convinced that his coffee can bring people back to life. The film stops and startsover and overat the checkpoints with their distinctive sign of a stopping white hand on a red background. The film shows the divided landscape, the closed-in enclave of Qalqilya and the patrolling military helicopters over occupied Palestine.
